Kids Dance Classes

Intro to Dance

This introductory class provides dance styles and forms from around the world. This course explores Western dance styles such as ballet, jazz, tap, modern, musical theatre and contemporary, as well as cultural dances, folk dances, and performance traditions from around the globe. Classes will be high energy and a great way to begin or expand your dance journey!

Class will be led by Taisha Spruiell, dance instructor.

Age Groups

Youth 1: Ages 6-8

Pre-Teen 1: Ages 9-12

Attire

The following items are recommended before the first class: For girls, a black leotard and pink tights are recommended. For boys, black or navy shorts and a white t-shirt that is fitted enough to not get in their way when moving are recommended. All children should have ballet shoes and hair must be out of the face. Ballet skirts are optional. All clothing items must be comfortable to move in!

Beginning Ballet

This beginner level activity is an introduction to classical ballet. Instruction includes the five positions, floor and barre work as well as basic dance combinations. Introduce the basics of ballet and tumbling. Dance lessons help build strength, self-confidence, and respect for self and others. We will learn basic techniques such as tendu, plie, and bourree as well as work on coordination and rhythm.

Classes will be led by Taisha Spruiell, Kaeleigh Kral, and Danena Sanders dance instructors.

Age Groups

Tot 1: Ages 3-4.5

Tot 2: Ages 4.5-5

Youth: Ages 6-9 (10 year olds also welcomed. Call for approval)

Pre-Teen: Ages 9-12

Attire

The following items are required before the first class: Girls need a black leotard and pink tights. Boys need black or navy shorts and a white t-shirt that is fitted enough to not get in their way when moving. All children need ballet shoes and hair must be out of the face. Ballet skirts are optional. Must be potty trained.

Poms Dance

In our movement based Poms class, we will focus on sharp arm movements and execution of choreographic visuals and dance team/cheer skills. Dancers will learn fundamentals of Pom positions, performance skills and pushes dancers to expand on their high energy, entertainment skills.

Class will be led by Taisha Spruiell and Kaeleigh Kral, dance instructors.

Pre-Teen: Ages 9-12

Attire

The following items are required before the first class: Both girls and boys need loose clothing that they can move in and BOTH jazz shoes and gym shoes ready for all classes. Hair must be out of the face. Poms will be provided for students.

Beginning Hip Hop

Explore the creative movement styling of Hip Hop dance. Instruction will focus on the basics of hip hop technique, styling, and choreography. Students will be challenged to learn dance combinations and dance in small groups to build confidence and coordination. Dance lessons help build strength, flexibility, confidence, and respect for self and others.

Tap and Jazz Dance

Explore Tap & Jazz dance and build strength and flexibility in this fun dance class. Dancers will learn the basics of both tap and jazz techniques through activities and dance combinations. Emphasis is placed on rhythm, locomotor skills, and coordination.

Class will be led by Taisha Spruiell and Kaeleigh Kral, dance instructors.

Attire

For girls, a leotard and tights of any color and for boys, black or navy shorts and a white t- shirt. All children need jazz AND ballet shoes. Hair must be out of the face.
