Tom  (AKA "Mags"), is our new Hockey Director at Morgan Park Sports Center! He is a familiar face at the rink, having worked here from day one in 2015 until 2020. Tom would come back to the Chicago Area in the summers to run camps and help out in between his juniors/college seasons. Growing up on the southside, Tom skated with the St Jude Knights, St Rita High School, Chicago Mission AAA, then played in the NAHL & NA3HL, Saint Mary's University NCAA, and finally played his final games overseas in Italy & Switzerland in exhibition matchups. Tom is a passionate and energetic coach, he is an advocate on efficient skating and maximizing power, along with quickness in all areas of the game. Tom wants to work on all players' comfortability on the ice, so they can focus on making plays instead of worrying about their mechanics.

Coaching Staff

Duane Cerrito

Coach Duane has been a talended coach and teacher of the game since 2012.  He is a USA Hockey Level-3 Certfiied Coach and our 2022-23 NWHL Coach of the Year!  An active member of the Chicago Fire Department hockey team since 2008, Duane previously played on the first Cobras Hockey Club team and begain the sport in the Orland Park house league, graduating from Richards High School in Oak Lawn.  He now passes along his life-long knowledge, skill and love of hockey to every level of the Chicago Horned Frogs program where all three of his sons are enjoying their early hockey experiences. Duane is highly valued in the South Side hockey community for his thoughful teaching style, dedication and calm coaching manner on and off the ice. 

Matt Madrigal

Matt Madrigal played youth hockey for the Oak Lawn Park District. He continued playing hockey at Mount Carmel and went on to play club hockey at Northern Illinois University. He began coaching hockey in 1997 at Mount Carmel as an assistant JV coach and continued coaching at St. Jude from 2005 to 2015.  He holds a Level 4 USA Hockey coaching certification and supports the Positive Coaching Alliance mission of Better People, Better Athletes.

Bob Lesch

Bob has an outstanding resume, and has been coaching for over 30 years, all the way from ADM & youth programs, all the way to the high school & AAA level. His training philosophy emphasizes strong skating mechanics, puck control under pressure, and teaching players to think the game at a high level rather than relying solely on physical ability.

Coach Bob runs high-tempo, detail-oriented practices that push players to develop power, efficiency, and confidence in their skating which can translate to games, and get them ready for the next level.

Scot Curtin

Scot Curtin has a great background in the hockey world. Growing up in the Detroit, Michigan Area, he played AAA growing up, and played for Detroit Catholic Central where in 1997 he won the Michigan Mr. Hockey, awarded to the best High School Player in the entire state of Michigan.

Following high school, he finished playing NCAA at Middlebury College, where he won two NESCAC Championships (2000 & 2001) back to back, and two NCAA National Championships (1998 & 1999) back to back.

Scot's philosophy is fixing bad habits early in a player's development and being active in his coaching style.

Sean Dennis

Sean Dennis is a dedicated goalie coach from the south side,with a passion for developing confident, technically sound, and mentally strong goaltenders. With years of experience both on the ice and behind the bench, Sean brings a detailed, hands-on approach to every session, focusing on fundamentals, positioning, and game-ready decision-making.

His coaching philosophy centers around building well-rounded athletes — helping goalies not only improve their mechanics and situational awareness but also grow their confidence and leadership within the team. Whether working with youth, high school, or adult players, Sean’s energy and attention to detail make him a trusted mentor for goaltenders of all levels.

Sean has played locally and plans on developing our goalies to get to the next step, and feel confident in the net, one of the hardest postitions in hockey.
